Where Purpose Meets Beauty at Acaydia

We’re so excited to share the transformation of Acaydia Spa & School of Aesthetics, a space that began as an old pizza factory and evolved into something deeply meaningful for its community.

From Pizza Factory to Aesthetics School

From our very first walk through, we knew this project wasn’t just about renovating a building. It was about creating an environment that reflects Acaydia’s core mission: strength, inclusivity, ambition, and respect. What started as a dated restaurant shell was completely gutted and reimagined into a warm, elevated, and intentional space designed to support both learning and luxury.

Designing With Purpose and Inclusivity

We worked closely with the owner, Andrea Hulse, from the beginning, allowing her story to shape the design. She founded Acaydia at just 24 years old with a small group of students, and it has since grown into a licensed .EDU institution. Her vision was clear: create a place where everyone feels welcome, included, and beautiful inside and out. Every design decision was rooted in that belief.

Thoughtful Interiors That Balance Beauty and Function

The interiors balance classic and empowering elements through warm tones, subtle texture, and thoughtful layering. We incorporated over 20 hidden symbols and figures honoring women throughout history, bringing meaning and storytelling into the space. Materials were selected not only for their beauty, but for durability, ensuring they could withstand the realities of a hands-on learning environment.

Functionality was just as important as aesthetics. Custom millwork was designed specifically for student workflow, allowing tools like wax machines and towel warmers to be seamlessly integrated into the space. Every detail was considered to support daily use while maintaining a refined, elevated feel.

Preserving History Through Intentional Renovation

Sustainability played a key role in the project. Rather than tearing down a building filled with history, we chose to repurpose it, salvaging materials and preserving elements like the original brick to give new life to something familiar. The result is a space that honors its past while serving a new generation.

We were grateful to collaborate with an incredible team of consultants, contractors, and vendors who helped bring this vision to life. From structural updates to one of a kind pieces like a 1700s marble fireplace, every contribution added depth and character to the final design.

Acaydia is more than a spa or a school, it is a place of growth, confidence, and community. A space where beauty is redefined, and everyone is invited in.

XOXO,

Emily Swenson
